A woman suffered minor injuries after she was run over by a Volusia County beach patrol truck on Friday morning.
22-year-old Kelly McNichols, of Ohio, was lying on a towel on the beach at A1A and Seabreeze Boulevard, just before 10:30 am, when a beach patrol unit making a U-turn, ran over arm and hand, Florida Highway Patrol said.
Officer Russell John, the 30-year-old driver of the beach patrol unit, was in the vehicle travel lane, troopers said.
McNichols, who was lying outside of the vehicle travel lanes, received minor injuries and was taken to Halifax Medical Center by car.
John was cited for careless driving, troopers said.
