The VoLo Foundation’s 2025 Climate Correction Conference returned for its seventh year this month, bringing together organizations, activists, and community members to discuss science-based climate solutions.
Held Wednesday, March 12th and Thursday, March 13th at the Celeste Hotel, the event featured free climate workshops, an environmental art expo, and discussions centered on this year’s theme, “Leaders in Action.”
“We have to stop expecting the government to help us, and we have to learn that we are capable of doing stuff,” said VoLo Foundation co-founder and CEO Thais López Vogel.
The foundation curated a packed schedule aligned with the theme, featuring workshops led by organizations such as Poder LatinX, The CLEO Institute, and the Orlando chapter of Citizens’ Climate Lobby. Attendees engaged in discussions on climate issues and potential solutions.
One workshop included a double screening of the films Good Natured and Escambrón, Playa, hosted by Orlando PBS stations WUCF and WEDU. Kristine Kelly, WEDU’s vice president of content, introduced the screenings.
“I think community is a really important thing for this issue to face together, and I think these two films are a good way of starting to do that,” Kelly said.
The conference encouraged interactive participation, fostering dialogue and community engagement. The VoLo Foundation, according to its website, prioritizes science-based climate solutions to improve public health and ensure access to a sustainable planet.
“It doesn’t matter whether you’re red or blue. It’s not a political issue. It’s green, and it’s affecting us all,” López Vogel said. “We are all affected by climate change.”
That message resonated throughout the conference. The Leaders in Action theme reinforced that climate change knows no boundaries, and Florida, facing exceptional environmental risks, must collaborate on solutions.
“If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together,” López Vogel said.
