Verdict for Man Committing Sexual Battery on Inebriated Victim in Orlando

A verdict was issued in the case of a 57-year-old man who was committing a sexual battery on an inebriated victim on Church Street in Orlando. The man had 21 prior felony convictions, according to law enforcement, but he may finally be off local streets.




On April 16, 2023, Orlando Police Officers responded to the parking lot of 741 W. Church Street in reference to a sexual battery in progress. Witnesses observed Sammy Pursley Jr. committing a sexual battery on an inebriated victim.

OPD officers were able to quickly locate Pursley Jr. and took him into custody.

Pursley Jr. was found guilty of Sexual Battery on a Person over 18. Pursley Jr. has 21 prior felony convictions and has been convicted as a Violent Career Criminal. He will serve a minimum mandatory sentence of 30 years in the Department of Corrections.

“Thank you to everyone involved in this case that led to getting this violent career criminal off our streets,” OPD posted.
