Veraunda Jackson, an operations manager at Community Based Care of Central Florida (CBC of Central Florida) – the leading child welfare organization in Orange, Osceola and Seminole counties – recently received the Legends Award for outstanding social service from the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Central Florida chapter.

The award recognizes Jackson’s work through her company, Everything Has a Price (EHAP) and its youth empowerment program, which helps local young people identify their gifts and talents, pursue passion-oriented careers and overcome life’s challenges. EHAP has sponsored youth programs for 11 years and awarded over $10,000 in scholarships to participating students.

As an operations manager at CBC of Central Florida, Jackson coaches case managers to help ensure the safety of children in foster care. Her role includes supporting parents, caregivers, service providers, Guardian Ad Litems, Children’s Legal Services and case managers as they make decisions on behalf of children.

“We’re grateful for Veraunda’s expertise and dedication to the well-being of our kids,” said Glen Casel, CEO of CBC of Central Florida. “She has inspired countless youth through her leadership and service.”

The National Coalition of 100 Black Women’s Central Florida chapter works to foster principles of equal rights and opportunities, develop the leadership potential of its members, and advocate for health, education and economic empowerment for women and children.

“I am greatly humbled and honored by this award. I have been very blessed to use my gifts and talents to serve, and I try to do it with purpose and passion every day,” said Jackson, an Orlando resident.
