Valentine’s Day: Not Just For Couples, Pets Too

Valentine’s Day spending this year is projected to be a whopping $19 billion, with Americans spending on average $142.31, significantly higher than $102.50 in 2009.

According to Statista, men will spend nearly twice as much as women this weekend – $190. 53 compared to $96.58.

In 2015, it’s estimated that people will shell out $4.8 billion on jewelry, $3.6 billion on date nights, $3.8 billion on candy and flowers.

But Valentine’s Day spending is not confined to couples. Other family members, friends and co-workers will also receive gifts. And 21.2% of Americans will spend $703 million on their pets.
