The Florida Voters League, representing 13 county chapters from around the state, will convene its 55th annual conference, June 28-30, in Orlando.
Under the theme “The Power is in Your Vote” and in light of the 2012 election fiasco, the Conference will bring together a diverse group of public officials, consultants and other experts to discuss the changing relationships between government, individuals, and the public sector. Participants will share experiences, perspectives, insights and the latest developments in legislative and political processes, as well as put forward creative solutions and recommendations for the challenges facing voters in the upcoming election.
The conference will feature a keynote presentation by Former Orlando Chief of Police Val Demings, and workshops by renowned experts in the areas of voting and elections. As the Keynote Speaker at the Awards Banquet on Saturday night, June 29, Val Demings is an exciting and high profile individual with a keen understanding of the role of public servants and the power of the vote when effectively utilized.
In addition, attendees will enjoy special events and lecturers featuring specialists and public servants such as Jerry Demings, Orange County Sheriff; Bill Cowles, Orange County Supervisor of Elections, Lavern Kelly, political consultant, KNA Services, Inc.; Peter Harris, registered lobbyist; and Charles Robinson, Deputy Chief of the Orlando Police Department. Workshops will be conducted on Saturday, June 29, between the hours of 8 am and 12 noon.
Honorees singled out by the League for special recognition include Dr. Bridget Williams (education); Bishop T.D. Wiggins (church); and Arthur Lee (business).
