Orlando Police Chief Val Demings will host the 2010 International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) Conference, the first female Chief of Police to host this historic conference in Orlando. The Conference will be held at the Orange County Convention Center, October 23-27, 2010.
“It is a true honor for the City of Orlando and OPD to host the International Association of Chief of Police Conference”, Orlando Chief Val Demings said. “It draws law enforcement executives from around the world and showcases the host agency at such an historic conference.”
The Orlando Police Department was selected in 2004 to host the 2010 IACP conference. OPD personnel have been planning for the conference since 2008. This is the 117th annual conference. Over 700 exhibiting vendors and over 14,500 people are expected to visit the exhibit hall. Thirty-three hotels along the I-Drive corridor are being used. However, dozens of hotels will be utilized in the Tri-County area to facilitate this important conference. Host Chiefs Night provided by IACP will be at Universal Orlando on Monday, October 25, 2010.
Conference attendees will be able to experience all of the things that make Orlando one of the fastest growing, most business-friendly and quality of life-centered cities in our nation.

Universal Pursuit 5k @ Universal Orlando – Beneficiary Special Olympics Florida
Golf Tournament @ Disney Magnolia Course – Beneficiary Boys and Girls Club
Motorcycle Ride – (this is a first time event) – Beneficiary Central FL Crimeline
All local central Florida Police Departments were encouraged to attend and help staff the conference. Officers from OPD, OCSO, Ocoee PD, Maitland PD, Apopka PD, Winter Garden PD, Winter Park PD, Edgewood PD, UCF, FHP, and volunteers (explorers) from Eatonville PD, will be assisting at the Conference.
