UPS Semi Burst into Flames after I-4 Crash

A UPS semi trailer truck caught fire after the driver lost control, struck the center median of I-4 and crashed into a sports utility vehicle in Orange County, early on Friday  morning.

According to Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the UPS semi-trailer truck was traveling westbound on the I-4 near Fairbanks around 2:00 am, when the driver said he had a mechanical problem and lost control in the curve.  The driver of the UPS tractor trailer then truck the center median concrete barrier of I-4, and the Ford Edge that was traveling in the left lane.

The tractor trailer exploded into flames upon impact.

Firefighters were called to the scene to extinguish the blaze and many UPS packages were damaged in the crash and from water used to extinguish the blaze, reports clickorlando.com.

A passenger in the UPS tractor trailer and the driver of the Ford Edge were taken to Florida Hospital South with minor injuries.

There were no fatalities.

Westbound lanes, which have since re-opened, were closed for several hours following the crash.

The FHP is continuing with their investigation of the crash.   They have said that charges are pending.
