University High School Student Dead After One Day of Lacrosse Practice

A 17-year-old University High School student died on Tuesday, but Orange County deputies said, no foul play is suspected.

Daniel Valenson, 17, was practicing with the University High School Lacrosse team on Monday at the school’s athletic field at East Wood Drive, when he decided to take a break during drills.

Authorities said, Daniel laid on his back, when shortly after school coaches checked on him and notices he was in distress.

Deputies also said, a 911 call was placed as coaches provided assistance to Daniel. He was transported to Florida Hospital South, where he was listed in critical condition.

Daniel was pronounced deceased just before 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Deputies said, the medical examiner will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death.
