United Way announces 7th Annual Women’s Leadership Luncheon

UW2With the goal of bringing together Central Florida’s most influential women’s leaders and a focus on educational initiatives, Heart of Florida United Way (HFUW) will host the 7th Annual Women’s Leadership Luncheon on Wednesday, March 12. The event will take place at the Rosen Centre Hotel located at 9840 International Drive, Orlando.

The luncheon is the latest in a series of annual events that support HFUW’s advocacy of improving educational opportunities for children in Central Florida.

This year’s keynote speaker is educator Erin Gruwell, author of the New York Times best-seller, The Freedom Writers Diary. The book chronicles Gruwell’s extraordinary experience with 150 high school students who were written off by the education system. This true story also attracted Hollywood’s attention with the release of the film Freedom Writers, starring two-time Oscar winner Hilary Swank.

“Each year we host guest speakers who we believe resonate well with the spirit, mission and initiatives of the council and United Way,” said Dee. “Erin Gruwell’s personal experience aligns closely with our commitment to enhance public education, improve literacy and reduce the high-school dropout rate in our communities.”

Tickets ($75 per individual or $1,000 for a reserved corporate table seating 10) can be purchased by visiting www.hfuw.org, emailing [email protected] or calling (407) 429-2911.
