Applications are being invited for the annual UNCF scholarship, open to all high school senior in Orange County Public Schools.
Students must be nominated by their high school principal and counselor. All applications and related documents must reach the Scholarship Committee by 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 22, 2011.
GOAL OF THE SCHOLARSHIP
To provide a $20,000 scholarship, ($5000 payable per year for four years) to an OCPS senior who demonstrates academic and leadership potential, financial need and who will attend any UNCF college or UNCF university. It is the intent of the scholarship fund to grow each year so that many other students may be able to receive financial support from these funds.
APPLICATION PROCEDURES:
1. The high school counselor will receive all applications. The principal and counselor will consider and select nominees that best meet the criteria as established.
2. Completed nomination packets should be submitted to the UNCF Scholarship Committee. All applications must reach Bennye’ “Laveta” Barrett at Howard Middle or Hope B. Sims at Olympia High School by 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 22, 2011.
3. Only nomination packets with the principal and counselor signatures will be considered.
4. All nomination packets will be screened by the Scholarship Committee.
5. Scholarship recipient will be notified by March 25, 2011. **
**Recipient will be presented scholarship on March 30, 2011 during the UNCF Luncheon held at the Sheraton Downtown. Luncheon begins at 1:00, if chosen, please plan to attend.
