UCF Students Give Rick Scott a Failing Grade, Launch Series of Events

 

UCFfinalUniversity of Central Florida students will hold a rally against Rick Scott’s regressive, anti-education policies on Wednesday, October 15, 2014. From cutting Higher Education funding and gutting Bright Futures Scholarships, to refusing to support initiatives that promote economic opportunity and equality, to his anti-environmental policies—Rick Scott has failed young people.

Speakers will unveil their report card for Rick Scott, which will include:

  • F…for locking out 26,000 students from the Bright Futures program
  • F…for cutting $300 million from Higher Ed funding in his second year, forcing tuition increases
  • F…for opposing minimum wage increase, which would help struggling working students
  • F…for refusing to expand health care to 294,000 college-aged Floridians
  • F…for endangering our future by failing to act now on climate change

The rally will launch “Students Against Scott”; a weeklong series of events on campuses throughout the state to let college students know their future is on the line.
