UCF Alumni Hosts ‘Back to School Supply Drive’

The UCF Alumni Community Volunteers Chapter is hosting a “Back to School Supply Drive” from August 6 through September 5 to benefit “A Gift for Teaching.” Donated items can be dropped off at the UCF FAIRWINDS Alumni Center between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. (Monday-Friday).

The UCF Young Alumni Chapter will also be hosting an “AlumKnight Out” event on Wednesday, August 15, from 6-8 p.m. at the World of Beer located on University Boulevard (3402 Technological Avenue, Orlando, FL 32817). You may bring your school supply donation with you and drop it off at the event.

The most requested items by teachers are:

 

  • Notebook Paper
  • #2 Pencils
  • Glue Sticks
  • 24 Crayon Packs
  • Scissors
  • Erasers
  • Backpacks
  • Rulers
  • Construction Paper
  • Hygiene Items (i.e. hand sanitizer, tissues, etc.)

A Gift for Teaching” (AFGT) began in 1998 as a way to recycle unwanted or surplus supplies from businesses has grown into tri-county-wide operation distributing more than $35,000 worth of school supplies and incentives daily to our community’s highest-need schools and classrooms for FREE.Thousands of companies, individuals and volunteers have allowed AGFT’s teacher free stores to distribute more than $60 million worth of school supplies to underprivileged children and grow to not only provide school supplies, but experiences as well.
