Two women, overdosed on heroin, are facing child neglect charged, after the car they were in crashed into bushes near a gas station on W. Oak Ridge Road in Orange County on Sunday. A child was in the backseat of the vehicle.
Marilyn Marie Roth, 52, the driver of the vehicle and Leah Kristen Roth, 29, a passenger, were arrested and charged with child neglect, and booked into the Orange County Jail.
According to the arrest affidavit, both Marilyn and Leah Roth were found passed out after the elder Roth crashed into some bushes upon leaving the Shell Gas Station, located at 455 W. Oak Ridge Road around 11:00 a.m. Sunday. A child, in a car seat was found in the backseat of the vehicle.
Orange County Fire Rescue who arrived on the scene found the car engine running and both Roths unresponsive. The rear window on the driver’s side was smashed to gain entry to the vehicle.
Investigators found a needle in Leah’s hand, along with other items in a diaper bag, including a hypodermic needle, lighter and a spoon with residue. The items are all indicative of heroin paraphernalia, Orange County deputies said.
Paramedics administered Narcan to revive the Roths, who were taken to the Orlando Regional Medical Center. The pair were arrested several hours later, after being released from ORMC.
Both Roths were charged with child neglect. Marilyn Roth faces an additional charge of driving while under the influence. They were booked into the Orange County Jail Sunday evening.
