Two 22-year-old defendants were indicted for murder in the fatal shooting of an Orlando 19-year-old.

An Orange County grand jury formally indicted 22-year-old Amarion Hammons and 22-year-old Jabez Actie for First Degree Murder, two counts of Attempted First Degree Murder and multiple firearm-related charges for a fatal shooting at an Orange County intersection.

On June 18, 2023, Orange County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a shooting at the intersection of Reddit Road and Pershing Avenue in Orlando. An unknown gunman fired from a vehicle into a 2021 Tesla Model 3, killing the driver, 19-year-old Angel Martinez, and injuring a passenger.

Detectives identified a suspect vehicle and identified the two suspects in the vehicle as Hammons and Actie. On September 5th, a judge issued an arrest warrant for Hammons. The following day, homicide detectives arrested Hammons for the murder of Mr. Martinez.

Detectives also arrested Actie for trafficking fentanyl. Homicide detectives interviewed Actie and charged him with the murder of Mr. Martinez as well.

State Attorney Andrew Bain’s office presented sufficient evidence to a grand jury to secure indictments against Hammons and Actie for First Degree Murder (with a Firearm), two counts of Attempted First Degree Murder with a Firearm, Shooting at, Within or Into an Occupied Vehicle and Shooting from a Vehicle.
