Two Die in Fiery Crash on Apopka Vineland Road

Troopers are investigating a deadly crash on Apopka Vineland Road, near McCormick Road in Orange County, that claimed the lives of two drivers on Sunday night.

Florida Highway Patrol said that a 49-year-old male driver of a 1988 Ford truck was heading southbound on Apopka Vineland Road near McCormick Road around 11:15 pm on Sunday night.

Chelsea Rodriguez, 18, of Apopka, who was driving a 2006 Honda Pilot was stopped facing east on McCormick Road, west of Apopka Vineland Road, attempted to turn left to go northbound on McCormick Road.  However, in doing so, the front of the Ford truck collided with the driver side of the Honda and both vehicles caught and were engulfed in flames immediately.

The driver of the Ford truck and Rodriguez were pronounced dead at the scene.

A passenger in the Honda, Alexandria Price, 18, of Davenport, was able to exit the vehicle.  She was taken to the Orlando Regional Medical Center with serious injuries.

The name of the driver of the Ford truck, whose body was burned beyond recognition, has not been released, pending notification of next of kin.

It is unknown whether or not the drivers were wearing seat belts.

The crash remains under investigation.
