Two people are dead and another is in critical condition, following a head on crash on Poinciana Boulevard near Golden Beach Court in Osceola County, early on Thursday morning.
Troopers said, 25-year-old Russell Honore, heading southbound on Poinciana Boulevard, traveled into the northbound lane and collided head on with a Lincoln Towncar, driven by 44-year-old Michael Woodward, of Kissimmee, heading northbound. It is not clear what caused Honore to stray into the northbound lane, but there is speculation that the wet roadway could have been a factor.
Woodward was pronounced dead on the scene, troopers said.
A 23-year-old male passenger, in Honore’s vehicle, was taken to the Osceola Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Troopers have not released the name of the victim.
Honore was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Hospital in critical condition.
Troopers are awaiting toxicology results to determine whether or not alcohol played a role in the crash.
The crash remains under investigation and charges are pending, troopers said.
The crash occurred around 3:20 a.m. on Thurday.
