Two dead bodies have been recovered recently in waters off the Courtney Campbell Causeway in Central Florida.
The Tampa Police Department is currently investigating two separate and unrelated deaths involving individuals recovered from the waters off the Courtney Campbell Causeway. Detectives were also working to positively identify both subjects and notify next of kin.
On the evening of November 17th, police officers recovered the body of a deceased Black male, believed to be in his mid-teens, with no obvious signs of trauma.
The individual recovered on the morning of November 19th was determined to be an adult Hispanic male, believed to be in his early-to-mid 30s. There were no obvious signs of trauma.
Although still in the early stages of each investigation, the incidents do not appear to be related and there is nothing that suggests foul play, according to local law enforcement.
The Medical Examiners Office will determine the official cause of death in each case.
The Tampa Police also noted that the National Weather Service recently issued a HIGH rip current risk advisory for the Tampa Bay area.
Those who plan to be in or near the water are urged to exercise caution and avoid swimming especially during periods of high surf and strong currents.
