Two suspects were arrested in a stolen Corvette after a report of a Central Florida armed carjacking.
Around 3:47pm, Volusia County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the carjacking reported on South Thompson Street in DeLand.
The victim told deputies two masked suspects dressed in black pulled up beside him. One of the suspects pointed a gun at him, threatened to kill him, pistol-whipped him in the head and pulled him out of his black 2019 Chevrolet Corvette.
The suspects took off in the Corvette, which was soon spotted by Air One, which followed overhead as the car fled from VSO deputies and DeLand PD.
It eventually came to a final stop off SR 472, with one of the suspects staying in the vehicle and the other bailing out into the woods.
Both suspects were taken into custody by 4:32pm, and two firearms were recovered from the scene, along with a black mask, gloves and other evidence.
The driver, 23-year-old Mikell Bailey, of DeLand, was charged with armed carjacking and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. He was also arrested on outstanding warrants for burglary, grand theft, and witness tampering.
The second suspect, 31-year-old Britten Polk, of DeLand, was charged with possession of a firearm/ammunition by a convicted felon and violation of probation.
Both were being held at the Volusia County Branch Jail with no bond.
