Two black men who robbed a couple at gunpoint earlier this evening near Forest City road, pistol whipped the woman, then fled the scene. Orange County Sheriff’s detectives who were called to the scene apprehended the thugs in an unoccupied building.
On May 3, 2010, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office Communication Center received a 9-1-1 call in reference to an armed robbery at 2394 Lake Weston Drive. The caller advised he and his girlfriend had just been robbed at gunpoint by two black males. He also advised his girlfriend was pistol whipped by one of the suspects. The victim followed the suspects into Eatonville and provided officers the suspect’s vehicle description and direction of travel.
Deputies were able to locate the suspects; who upon seeing law enforcement, abandoned the vehicle and ran through the neighborhood, in an effort to avoid arrest. A perimeter was set and K-9 deployed; the suspects were tracked to 606 Katherine Avenue to an unoccupied residence that is under renovation. The suspects hid in the attic and refused to follow law enforcement’s commands to exit the residence. Several homes were evacuated for safety and the Orange County SWAT team was called out. However, prior to their arrival the suspects exited the residence and surrendered to law enforcement. Three guns were recovered from the residence, including the victim’s firearm.
Arrested are: Wesley Hendery, 22 years and Michael Johnson, also 22. They were both charged with armed robbery with a firearm and grand theft of a firearm.
