23 Schools Improve Proficiency Levels

Public schools are evaluated every year on their success based upon the performance of  students and this year Orange County Public Schools celebrates the great success of 23 schools that made 100 percent Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP).

Adequate Yearly Progress is a federal requirement under No Child Left Behind (NCLB). It measures student proficiency in math, reading, and writing.  Making 100 percent AYP is an incredible accomplishment because it means every child in each sub-group has raised their proficiency level. Adequate Yearly Progress also takes into account the graduation rate and whether the school tested enough students in each group.

Schools meeting 100 percent Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) were:

Andover Elementary MetroWest Elementary
Avalon Elementary Moss Park Elementary
Brookshire Elementary NorthLake Park Community School
Chickasaw Elementary Rolling Hills Elementary
Cypress Springs Elementary Spring Lake Elementary
East Lake Elementary Sunset Park Elementary
Endeavor Elementary Thornebrooke Elementary
Hunter’s Creek Elementary Washington Shores Elementary
Ivey Lane Elementary West Creek Elementary
