True Identity Links Murder Suspect to Another Killing 30 Years Ago

Jon Charles Black -suspect

A Citrus County man, who deputies say murdered his longtime domestic partner earlier this month, is likely connected to another murder involving another woman over 30 years ago, now that his true identity has been revealed.

Citrus County Sheriff’s deputies charged Bob Jay Parsons, 69, with second-degree murder in the death of his longtime partner, 57-year-old Arlene Preg of Inverness, on August 18.  Parsons and Preg lived at 2018 E. Mary Lue Street.

On Thursday, deputies said Parsons’ true identity is Jon Charles Black.

Black was known locally as Bob Parsons for the 30-plus years he has lived in Citrus County.  His true identity was revealed through diligent police work.

Black’s true identity led deputies to place a hold on him in jail for an arrest warrant out of Palm Beach County, apparently for another murder 32 years ago, involving a woman there.
