Troopers Seek Hit-and-Run Semi Truck Driver in Fatal Crash

Troopers are trying to find a hit-and-run-driver of a semi truck that killed a passenger traveling in a motorhome on Interstate 95 on Saturday.

The victim was identified as Sandra Gentry, 66, of Titusville.

The crash occurred just after 5:00 p.m., on I-95 near mile post 274, in Volusia County.

Florida Highway Patrol said, a semi truck traveling north on I-95 in the center lane attempted to change lanes to the outside lane, when it struck the right side of the motorhome. Thomas Gentry, 66, the driver of the motorhome was also traveling north on I-95 in the outside lane, and towing a passenger vehicle.

Upon impact, Gentry lost control of the motorhome, struck a directional sign post and continued to travel through the grass shoulder of the roadway. The vehicle then struck an embankment, crossed over the entrance ramp from US 1 to Interstate 95, northbound, and stopped after it struck a fence.

Sandra Gentry, the passenger in the motorhome, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the semi truck, possible a white tractor trailer with the logo, “Prime” on it, left the scene.

Troopers said, the crash remains under investigation and charges are pengind.
