Three juveniles and one adult were caught on Thursday afternoon after they robbed an elderly woman of her purse at a Walgreens Store on Aloma Avenue in Winter Park.
Trooper Montague Haight watched as the four University High School students stole a woman’s purse in the Walgreens parking lot. Trooper Haight gave chase but the suspects fled in a stolen car. After the stolen car became disabled, the four men ran from the trooper on foot. Trooper Haight began chasing the suspects on foot, and one of the men pointed a taser at the trooper.
With the help of Winter Park Police, their K-9 unit and Winter Park citizens that called in the locations where the suspects were hiding, troopers were able to arrest the three juveniles and one adult.
The suspects are being charged with petit theft, grand theft, fleeing from troopers and resisting without violence. The suspect who pointed a taser at the trooper will be charged with aggravated assault.
Troopers and police are currently seeking to positively identify the suspects.
