Woman Arrested in Orange County Fatal Hit-and-Crash Crash

A female driver who struck and killed a young woman on Tuesday night, then fled the scene of the crash was arrested today, Florida Highway Patrol said.

Jennifer Toth - mug shot

43-year-old Jennifer Toth, of San Jose, California, hit a 22-year-old Chinese woman on State Road 535, then fled the scene, witnesses told troopers.

The crash occurred near Meadow Creek Drive just after 11:00 p.m.

The unnamed woman was taken to Dr. Phillips Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Troopers said Toth contacted the agency Wednesday morning asking for a crash report.  She said she was involved in a crash with possibly an animal.

Toth told troopers she parked the 2011 Nissan Altima she was driving behind a business off Vineland Road and had taken a cab back to the Waldorf Astoria Hotel where she is staying.

Troopers located the Nissan Altima and confirmed that it was the vehicle seen fleeing the crash scene. It had damage consistant with striking a pedestrian in a crash, authorities said.

Toth was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of a crash involving death. She was booked into the Orange County Jail earlier today on a $20,000 bond.

Troopers said, Toth could face other charges.

  1. Only 20,000 bail for someone who hit a young woman and left the scene. If the police believe that she thought she hit an animal then they need to take a breathalyzer test themselves. It is obvious that this woman was probably drunk and looking for a way to keep from testing above the legal alcohol limits. Why would she park the car she was driving and take a cab to her hotel room. Why not go to the police station on Tuesday night. Why because she wanted to get a way with a terrible crime. Shame on Toth for not taking responsibility for her egregious and despicable actions. Throw the book at her and then some.

  2. I’ve been browsing on-line more than 3 hours these days, yet I never discovered any interesting article like yours. It’s pretty worth enough for me. In my view, if all site owners and bloggers made excellent content as you did, the internet will likely be a lot more useful than ever before.

  3. All her “friends” in California KNOW that Jennifer Toth is a known ALcoholic… and already has numerous DUI’s and infractions on her record for drunk driving! Not the first time… but hopefully the LAST time as 30 years behind bars for her will protect the rest of civilization from a DRUNK hit & run driver like this!

  4. I heard about this recently. I see this as a terrible “accident” obviously no one set out to intentionally harm another. This whole world has turned into a spiteful place. I can’t speak for her decision to leave nor do I know what may have been going through her head. If I was visiting a town like Orlando and something hit my car at night and I didn’t know what it was I may drive off too. Human nature is fight or flight. She flew. I feel sorry for everyone involved in this. Its sad. : (

P.S. I doubt she would be out on low bail if the judge felt she was a repeat offender or risk. They way out these things and are not stupid.
