Traffic Ticks Up at Orlando International Airport

Orlando International Airport

An increase in international travelers to the Orlando International Airport, help raise overall traffic in 2011 by nearly 1.6 percent, the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority reported Thursday.

More than 3.5 million international passengers passed through Orlando International Airport, representing a nearly 8 percent increase in foreign travel over the 3.2 million visitors in 2010.

Visitors from the United Kingdom comprised the bulk of the international travel, as in previous years. Brazil, though, showed the largest increase in volume with a 47 percent jump in arriving non-stop visitors over the previous year.

“During the course of the year we made a concerted effort to enhance our service offerings to Central and South America,” declared Cesar E. Calvet, Chairman of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority, in a statement. “Our challenge now is to continue providing our international visitors with exceptional customer service or what we call “The Orlando Experience.”
