Tiger Woods announced today that he will begin his 2010 season at the Masters Tournament at Augusta National Golf Club in April.
The world’s number one golfer in a released statement said, he was ready to start his season, after a long and necessary time away from the game.
“The major championships have always been a special focus in my career and, as a professional, I think Augusta is where I need to be, even though it’s been awhile since I last played,” the statement said.
Woods has undergone almost two months of inpatient therapy and he continues to be treated. The statement said that Woods still has “a lot of work to do” in his personal life.
Augusta National Golf Club, located in Augusta, Georgia, is one of the most exclusive golf clubs in the world.
Observers have said that, given the exclusive nature of the club, it is unlikely that swarms of media crews would get close to Woods, who would be making his first appearance on a golf course since his tawdry scandal broke last November, forcing him to take a leave of absence from the sport.
