Opening May 4, SEA LIFE Orlando Aquarium offers a unique opportunity for visitors and locals to see and interact with over 5,000 sea creatures in 34 mating habitats, including coldwater rock pools, bubble and floor-to-ceiling window aquariums.
SEA Life Orlando, the 50th location aquarium launched in the world, is unique in that there’s a 360-degree acrylic tunnel through which guests walk with graceful rays beneath you, majestic sharks swimming above you, as well as other color fish. The Aquarium also showcases three oceans of the world and provides a very different way of seeing the Atlantic, Indian and Pacific Oceans. You can get up close and personal with stunning blooms of jellyfish, the Giant Pacific Octopus in the sunken shipwreck and even come nose-to-nose with the Aquarium’s Green Sea Turtle.
“I think that SEA LIFE Orlando Aquarium is the best one so far, based on the levels of interaction and immersion,” said James Paulding, Head of Southeast Region, Merlin Entertainments, the attraction’s operator. “The opportunities you have as an adult or child provide really unique viewpoints and make this Aquarium very, very different.”
Asked how SEA LIFE helps protect local habitats and marine life generally, Paulding said SEA LIFE raises funds and champions causes such as, working to canceling out whaling; breeding seahorses and actively campaigning to protect individual species and the marine environment from destruction and exploitation.
“We do a number of things worldwide – SEA LIFE has the largest breeding programs in the world – and we also engage with local communities to help protect local habitats, as in the case of the Florida Everglades,” he said.
Located at I-Drive 360, in the heart of International Drive, SEA Life Orlando Aquarium, along with Madame Tussauds Orlando and Orlando Eye, other attractions of Merlin Entertainment, will open on May 4.
