The 31st Annual Florida Classic–the nation’s biggest black college football game–kicks off tomorrow, Saturday, November 21st, pitting the Florida A&M Rattlers against the Bethune-Cookman University Wildcats. This season-ending shown will take place at the Florida Citrus Bowl Stadium beginning at 2:00 pm.
The excitement has been building for several days in Orlando and in an effort to give back to the thousands of fans who have long supported the game, the Florida Classic hosted their inaugural Florida Classic Career Expo and Diversity Job Fair at the Amway Center on Friday.
Fans will notice modest changes to the Florida Citrus Bowl when they enter the stadium tomorrow, thanks to $10 million of the first phase of planned enhancements, which will include structural work, lighting and technology. In August, earlier this year, a new AstroTurf playing field was layed, aimed at helping the stadium remain competitive.
Saturday’s game is expected to draw close to 60,000 fans, much the same as last year and generate more than $20 million in income for business and the city’s coffers.
