The Gantt Report
The Holy Bible has a lot of scriptures about dogs. The Bible also has many words about fools.
In the book of Proverbs, Chapter 26, verse 11, God’s message is, “As a dog returneth to his vomit, so a fool returneth to his folly.”
You can interpret that scripture any way you want to but here is my explanation.
If you don’t give a dog some Iams, some Alpo, some Purina or some other kind of puppy chow, a dog will almost eat anything!
A dog will eat leftovers, a dog will chew on newspapers, a dog will even chew up your brand new designer shoes.
If he is too hungry, a dog will turn over a garbage can and consume filthy, bug infested garbage!
But guess what, after devouring something that makes the dog feel bad, give the dog a tummy ache and upset his stomach so bad the dog has to throw up, the dog will go back and eat the same things that made him sick before.
That is a foolish thing for a dog to do!
Now, it is not unusual to hear some women say, “All men are dogs”!
Well those same women will greet their girlfriends by saying, “What’s up bitches!” And when they get angry, they’ll say, “That bitch thinks she’s cute,” or “If that bitch keeps looking at my man, I’m going to slap her”!
That is foolish talk about foolish actions.
The truth is that God doesn’t want good people to go back to doing bad. When you stop drinking, don’t take another swallow of Hennessey. If you stop smoking, don’t light up another Newport or a Black & Mild! If you have settled down with a good woman, stop going from club to club chasing the cat and the hood rat!
Women, by the way, love to talk about how they want a good man, how they want a nice guy and how they would love to have a gentleman that would love and commit to them.
However, when a relationship sours, women are quick to rush back to the thug they had before, they run back to the cheater they had before or they dash back to the man whose lies, infidelity, violence and mistreatment caused the original breakup.
Folly, in the Bible, means a lack of good sense, understanding or foresight, a costly undertaking having an absurd or ruinous outcome or an act or instance of foolishness.
Eating your own vomit is folly, it is stupid, it is dumb and it is even harmful!
And continuing to do anything that is bad for you is ungodly in the eyes of the Lord.
Brothers and sisters, don’t go back to acting like a slave, don’t go back to being afraid of freedom and don’t take the shackles off of your ankles and put them on your brain!
When the wise men in the neighborhood, the activists in the community or the freedom fighters in your town or city tell you and show you how to improve yourself and transform your home and your residence into the promise land that you like and that God likes don’t let stupidity, folly and foolishness put you back into captivity!
Old people and young people, stop acting foolishly!
