Texas Equusearch Sues Casey Anthony

Texas Equusearch (TES), an organization that devoted hundreds of thousands of dollars and man-hours in the search for Caylee Anthony, on Tuesday filed suit against Casey Anthony in Orange County. The suit requests compensatory damages and any additional relief as the court deems reasonable.

The law suit charges that even though Casey Anthony knew that Caylee, her daughter was deceased, she still turned to TES founder, Tim Miller and his organization for help in finding her “missing” toddler.

“Casey Anthony knew at the time that the statements were made that the representations made to Mr. Miller regarding Caylee were false.  Specifically, Casey Anthony knew that, contrary to what she, Cindy and George Anthony told Mr. Miller, Caylee was deceased, Casey Anthony concealed this fact and the facts surrounding Caylee’s death from Mr. Miller,” the law suit states.

According to the suit, over 4,200 people from 13 states volunteered their time to participate in searching for Caylee, dedicating tens of thousands of hours to the search at a cost of over $112,000.

The suit also states that lead defense attorney, Jose Baez was present at the early meetings with the Anthony family, when TES’ help was being requested. In his opening statement at the trial of Casey Anthony, Baez said that Caylee was never missing and died on June 16, 2008 when she drowned in the family swimming pool.

“The Anthony family insisted that they believed that Caylee had been abducted and that she was alive,” the law suit states.

TES conducted searches for Caylee in early September 2008 and again in November of that same year.

The law suit states that the search for Caylee was the second most costly in the organization’s operation and consumed about 40 percent of TES’ annual budget.

During the search for Caylee, TES received 15 requests from other families searching for missing loved ones and was unable to offer assistance, the suit said.
