I’m glad Teresa Jacobs went to see Rick Scott.
It took guts and balls to go to Tallahassee and exercise her best maternal instincts and fight for her family, Orange County. Thanks Teresa, you tried.
It took balls to call out the the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts folks, as well. She knew it was risky and unpopular. She did it anyway. Our Mother Teresa is a post-recession hero.
Imagine being Mayor of Orange County. Imagine that. In a stinking, wretched economy with declining revenues, who would want that job? Now add in the Rick Scott phenomenon and you really understand why Teresa has balls.
Her trip to Tallahassee to speak to a mad man with a bald head was a courageous thing to do. If only because, by all accounts Rick Scott is a very dangerous man. A modern day plunderer, who hates women, children and working people. Rick Scott is the last man I would approach for mercy and understanding.
Scott doesn’t understand the way Teresa does that, we have to jump-start our economy with what we have already. She understands that Orange County’s residents are reeling from a terrible downturn. The old strip mall mentality isn’t gonna cut it anymore. Blockbusters are closing and the commercial vacancies are piling up.
Rick Scott couldn’t care less. His answer to everything is Tea Party based; foolhardy, reactionary and anti-people solutions that promise to perpetuate the Great Recession, Florida-style. Killing High Speed Rail was just the tip of the iceberg. SunRail is already being prepared for the grave.
So Teresa went to Tallahassee to try and save it. Quietly. Professionally.
Rick Scott is a disaster for Florida. So are Haridopolos and Cannon. Teresa has to have the balls to stand up to them, and who knows, if she convinced this ridiculous fool, Rick Scott to keep his hands off of SunRail, people will say that she had the big balls to stand up for Orange County, in an increasingly out-of-control Tallahassee.
Thanks Teresa.
