Troopers are investigating a car crash which left two Apopka teens who were riding their bicycles on Saturday, in serious condition.

The accident happened on Apopka Vineland Road near McCormick Road just before 2:30 p.m.

Troopers say, Shirley Moore, 54, of Apopka, was heading southbound on Apopka Vineland Road when she struck Steven and Andrea Maldonado, both 13 years,  riding their bikes across the road. Both were in a crosswalk with their father, who was riding his bike in the crosswalk.

Steven and Andrea were knocked off their bikes; both were taken to Arnold Palmer Children’s Hospital with serious injuries.  The teens were not wearing helmets at the time of the crash.

Troopers are still trying to determine who had the right of way, as they continue with the investigation.
