A teenager, who brazenly posed as a physician’s assistant for two weeks at the Osecola Medical Center, has been arrested.
Matthew Scheidt, 17, was arrested Friday, charged with five counts of impersonating a physician’s assistant, Kissimmee Police Department officers said.
Scheidt, was able to obtain hospital credentials as a physician’s assistant, where he interviewed patients and looked at confidential records. He even performed physical examinations on patients and worked in the emergency room of the hospital for a week, law enforcement officers said.
According to officials, during Scheidt’s stint in the emergency room, he was dressed in surgical scrubs and a lab coat, changed bandages and could have assisted in chest compressions on a few occasions.
Suspicipions grew, when Scheidt requested access to other parts of the hospital which were private. Upon investigation, officials found Scheidt had conned his way into the hospital, claiming to be a medical professional.
Scheidt was arrested on Friday and booked into the Osceola County Jail.
