A teen who was driving a stolen car and crashed it on Friday night, remains in hospital under arrest, Florida Highway Patrol said.
18-year-old Tra’von Butler-Taylor, who sustained serious injuries after crashing the stolen vehicle, then fleeing the scene, has been arrested.
Troopers said, Butler-Taylor was driving a stolen Buick south on Hiawassee Road near Claracona Occee Road, when he lost control and crossed into the northbound lanes. The front of the Buick hit the front of a 2001 Ford that was heading northbound. The driver of the Ford vehicle, who has not yet been identified, sustained critical injuries and is hospitalized.
Following the crash, Butler-Taylor pulled his unnamed front seat passenger, a male, from the vehicle before he fled the scene. The Buick subsequently caught on fire.
Troopers said, the passenger in the Buick sustained no injuries.
Troopers also said, Butler-Taylor’s mother who stopped at the crash scene, called him on his cell and ordered him to return. He was arrested at the crash scene and then taken to the Orlando Regional Medical, where he remains.
The investigation is ongoing.
