A teenager is in critical condition, after he was thrown from the bed of a pick-up truck on County Road 439 on Tuesday.
Troopers said, Edwin Burch, 16, of Deland, was riding in the bed of a 2001 Ford pick-up driven by 33-year-old Rebecca Nolan, when she stopped abruptly on account of a closed gate.
Burch was thrown from the pick onto the ground. He was airlifted to the Orlando Regional Medical Center in critical condition.
Three other passengers in the bed of the pick-up were not injured. They are:
Danielle Verdon, 19 of Deland, Fl.
Andrew Waters, 20 of Deland, Fl.
Ashlyn Whisman, 17 of Umatilla, Fl.
The accident occurred near Deer Park Avenue in Lake County, just before 12:00 noon.
Troopers said, the crash remains under investigation and charges are pending.
