Teen Driver Hits Pedestrian then Flees, Crashes Vehicle

A 19-year-old female driver, who led deputies on a chase, after fleeing the scene of a hit and run accident early on Wednesday morning, eventually overturned her vehicle down an embankment, Florida Highway Patrol said.

Amber Lynn Williams, 19, was heading westbound on SR 528, fleeing from Brevard County deputies, after she struck a pedestrian.

FHP, picked up the chase near SR 520 and began to follow Williams, who was driving a 1997 Saturn.

Troopers said, Williams attempted to exit onto International Corporate Parkway, when she lost control and overturned down the embankment. The crash occurred just before 3:00 a.m.

Williams was extricated from the vehicle and transported to the Orlando Regional Medical Center with serious injuries. She was driving on a suspended learner’s permit, troopers said.

Troopers wouldn’t say whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash, as toxicology results are being awaited.

The crash remains under investigation and charges are pending.
