A teen was charged for the shooting death at a shopping mall in Central Florida.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office arrested and charged 16-year-old Ahmad Webb with manslaughter in connection with the death of 15-year-old Jaden Law from a shooting inside Dick’s House of Sport at the Brandon Exchange near Tampa.
The State Attorney’s Office recently approved the charge following an extensive months-long investigation.
On July 10, 2026, at 4:28pm, HCSO’s 911 Dispatch Center received a call reporting a shooting inside Dick’s House of Sport at the Brandon Exchange. Within four minutes of receiving the call, deputies arrived on scene and located a deceased male inside a fitting room. Two minutes later, deputies detained two individuals believed to be involved.
The preliminary law enforcement investigation revealed the three individuals entered Dick’s House of Sport together and went into a fitting room. Moments later, employees reported hearing a gun shot. Surveillance video then shows two of the individuals fleeing the store into the parking lot, according to HCSO.
The Medical Examiner later determined Law died from a single gunshot wound and classified his death as a homicide.
Through an extensive investigation, HCSO detectives determined that Webb and Law were among three juveniles who entered the store together and went into a fitting room. HCSO’s Dive Team also recovered a firearm from a retention pond south of the Brandon Exchange. Laboratory and ballistic testing determined the firearm was used in the shooting.
According to local law enforcement, Ahmad Webb was arrested and charged with Manslaughter with a Weapon.
