An Apopka teen, struck by a vehicle while riding his bicycle in a cross walk on Rock Springs Road Friday evening, has died.
Troopers said, Herman Aguilar, 17, wasn’t wearing a helmet when he was hit by a car traveling southbound on Rock Springs Road near Faye Street, around 6:50 p.m. Aguilar was thrown from his bicycle and taken to Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children, where he died earlier today.
Austin Alfrey, 81, of Plymouth, was driving the 2007 Kia that struck Aguilar. Â Alfrey told troopers he didn’t see the teen in the cross walk.
Florida Highway Patrol said, Alfrey was ticketed for failing to yield to pedestrian/bicyclist in a cross walk.
