Ted Hollins Photo Exhibit “Giants” Opens at African-American Museum

Ted Hollins

From October 5th to November 19, 2011, Orlando’s prolific and master photographer Ted Hollins will exhibit his photography at the African-American Museum of the Arts in Deland, Florida.

For over 25 years, Ted has taken pictures of every kind of event as a historical record of life in Orlando, around the country, and the world. He has photos of weddings, fashion shows, political functions, musical shows, beautiful women, and especially celebrities.

“This is the first time that I have taken time to highlight my body of work over 25 years. Also this is an opportunity to get my work recognized, and recognizes the contributions of some of the individuals highlighted in the exhibit,” says Mr. Hollins. Photography is an art, and Ted has spent the last 25 years perfecting his artistry.

In the photo exhibit entitled “Giants,” Mr. Hollins picked this name, because each one of the subjects have made a difference and contribution to our American culture, and have reached iconic status. There are 18 pieces in the exhibit, and his works touches every aspect and classification of American life.

“In the exhibit, we have Muhammad Ali, Maya Angelo, Angela Davis, Betty Shabazz, and three presidents, President Bill Clinton, President Jimmy Carter, and President Barak Obama. There is also James Brown, Dizzy Gillespie, Arthur Ashe, Coretta Scott King and Rosa Parks, and each picture was significant in a time or place in history,” says Ted.

Mr. Hollins was extremely elated when he received a proclamation from Congresswoman Corrine Brown. “I am so elated and excited to have my work recognized from a giant in our community. Congresswoman Brown is known by everyone in this area, and I appreciate the recognition as well,” explains Mr. Hollins.

At this time Mr. Hollins is working on putting his pictures in a book format, and he would like his works shown in other museums in different parts of the country. The goal of his work is to inspire and motivate more people to become giants in their own lives.

The African American Museum is located at 325 Clara Street, Deland Florida, 32720, and more information for hours call 386-736-4004. You can also give Ted Hollins a call for prices on photography at 407-399-3864.
