A high school teacher in Kissimmee, who exchanged explicit photos with one of his 16-year-old students, was arrested today, Kissimmee police said.
Wayne Brown, 34, a teacher at Mavericks High School was arrested and charged with distribution of obscene material to a minor.
Police said, the investigation began on September 19, after Brown’s wife told a school employee that he had received explicit photos from a 16-year-old student. Brown initially denied receiving photos from a student when interviewed by police.
The student told investigators that over the course of the past year her relationship with Brown became increasingly more intimate and although the two were never physical, they both exchanged explicit photographs of each other.
Brown was interviewed by police again yesterday, and this time around he cooperated with the investigation. He turned himself in at the Kissimmee Police Department on Friday and was transported to the Osceola County Jail.
Brown is being held on a $5,000 bond.
Investigators believe that Brown has victimized others as he has contact with children through the school and his church where he is a minister.
