Gov. Rick Scott said on Tuesday he will unveil his first state budget proposal at a Tea Party event in the City of Eustis, Lake County.
“I’m trying my best to get around the state, I’m traveling almost every day,” said Scott, reports the News Service of Florida.
Scott rejected the political overtones of presenting his 2011-12 state spending plan to Tea Party activists, many of whom supported him in his gubernatorial campaign.
“I talk to all sorts of groups,” Scott said.
The budget rollout is slated for Monday afternoon.
Scott is expected to make substantial cuts in education, health, including Medicaid and drug treatment programs, consolidate several agencies and undertake pension reform, among other measures, to close the more than $4 billion budget gap.
