In an ongoing effort to protect the community and focus on Ybor City, Tampa Police released stats from the continued increased patrol and officer presence, including recovered guns, felony arrests, DUI arrests and nearly 200 traffic stops.
Beginning Wednesday, November 22, 2023, Tampa Police were out in force throughout the Historic Ybor City District through early Sunday morning.
Dedicated to ensuring Ybor City remains a safe place for all, Tampa Police partnered with neighboring Central Florida law enforcement agencies and had approximately 100 officers patrolling in their vehicles as well as foot, bike, and horseback.
Through their efforts, officers were able to make a number of arrests and a significant number of proactive traffic stops, that led to the recovery of firearms, narcotics, and more.
Stats following the increased patrol:
- DUI Arrests: 5
- Traffic Stops: 197
- Recovered Guns: 4
- Felony Arrests: 7
- Misdemeanor Arrests: 2
“Our work is not done in Ybor City,” said Tampa Police Chief Lee Bercaw. “We saw how effective our increased patrols were earlier this month and how effective they were again this week. The proactive patrols are making a clear and positive impact on the immediate community here and we will continue this momentum to ensure Ybor City and the entire City of Tampa remain safe.”
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office also conducted “Operation Stuffed,” a Tampa Bay area multiple-agency initiative to combat driving under the influence, making nearly 300 traffic stops and more than 40 DUI arrests.
