The Florida Lottery announced that Timothy Lowery, of Tampa, claimed a $1 million prize from the $5,000,000 CASHWORD scratch-off game at Lottery Headquarters in Tallahassee.
The Hillsborough County man chose to his winnings as a one-time, lump-sum payment of $780,000.00.
Lowery purchased his winning ticket from Wawa, located at 27866 State Road 56 in Wesley Chapel. The retailer will receive a $2,000 bonus commission for selling the winning scratch-off ticket.
The $20 game, $5,000,000 CASHWORD, launched in May 2020 and features eight top prizes of $5 million and 24 second tier prizes of $1 million. The game’s overall odds of winning are 1-in-2.91.
Recently, there have been many millionaire winners around Florida, including a Palm Beach County resident, and a St. Lucie County resident. A Hendry County resident recently won $1,000 a week for life. A Polk County resident from Lakeland won $2 million from a scratch-off, and a Miami-Dade County resident won $1 million, among many others. A Cape Coral resident also found a “lotto” luck with a $41 million jackpot win.
