Swimming swamps Ocoee; Bowling sweeps Apopka

DP Women’s Swimming finished a perfect dual meet record (4-0) after a 134-35 victory over host Ocoee, capturing first place in every event.  Double winners included senior Angela Algee (200 free and 100 back), juniors Allie Magrino (100 free and 100 breast) and Cindy Cheng (200 IM and 100 fly) and sophomore Emily Kliewer (50 free and 500 free). In the relay events, DP won the 200 medley with Angela Algee, Allie Magrino, freshman Blake Broullire and sophomore Megan Hallson as well as the 200 free relay with Cindy Cheng, Emily Kliewer, sophomore Rikki Price and sophomore Sunny Zhu. In the day’s finale, the Panthers wrapped up the sweep in the 400 free relay with Blake Broullire, Megan Hallson, Sunny Zhu and senior Meredith Canty. .

Men’s Swimming and Diving took home first place in every event as they defeated host Ocoee, 124-22.  DP (4-0) had six individual champions and swept all three relays in completing a perfect dual meet record. Senior Ian Perkins won both the 100 free and 100 breast while senior Evan Olivares (200 free), junior Ian Supra (200 IM), junior John Meisenheimer (50 free), sophomore Evan Staton (100 fly) and junior Eduardo Macias (100 back) completed the card for the Panthers. The 500 freestyle was not offered as Ocoee did not enter any swimmers. In the 200 medley relay, Ian Perkins, Evan Staton, Ian Supra and sophomore Ryan Messinger had no problems while the 200 free relay team (Eduardo Macias, Ian Supra, Evan Staton and Ian Perkins) and the 400 free relay team (Evan Olivares, sophomore Gabe Baytan, Eduardo Macias and John Meisenheimer) finished off the event in perfect form. 

AJ Dattino rolled a 555 series as the DP Men’s Bowling team  improved to 8-1 on the season with a slim seven-pin victory over Apopka, 2516-2509. Women’s Bowling fared equally well with a 1975-1902 victory over Apopka as Taylor Gilman’s 489 series helped push DP’s season record to 5-4. 

At the Metro West Conference Championship in Zellwood yesterday, Men’s Golf shot 309 to finish third in the eight-team event behind West Orange (298) and Olympia (301). Jonathan Sundstrom led the Panthers individually at three-over par 75 while Ben Huizinga and Lucas Parrett both came into the clubhouse at five-over 77 giving DP three of the top ten finishers. 

Women’s Golf had a strong match against both Olympia and West Orange, defeating the Warriors, 178-188 and coming up just short against the Titans, 178-176. Sophie Benetti led DP (12-4) with a 40 followed by Cristine Lee (43), Mao Young (40) and Jovani Culver (52).
