Suspects Involved in Off-Campus Shooting Fled onto University of Florida Campus

Suspects involved in an off-campus shooting fled onto the University of Florida campus.




The University of Florida Police Department issued a UF Alert Emergency Notification at 3:45am on Sunday, after a suspect involved in an off-campus shooting incident reportedly fled onto campus near the Murphee Hall area.

UFPD officers assisted the Gainesville Police Department in searching for the suspects and securing the area.

GPD officers swiftly detained one suspect near the Student Recreation and Fitness Center at 114 Fletcher Drive. The second and third suspect were detained off campus shortly thereafter.

Once the suspects involved were in custody, UFPD issued an emergency notification update to resume normal campus operations at 4:17am.

Preliminary information obtained by police on scene indicates no one involved in this incident is affiliated with the university.
