Suspected Serial Rapist Found Guilty in Marion County

Michael Frye – guilty of kidnapping and rape

It took a Marion County jury less than 90 minutes to find Michael A. Frye guilty on all counts, Wednesday.

Prosecutors say, Frye kidnapped a Ocala woman, dragged her into the woods and raped her. The assault took place near the 4200 block of NW 11th Street last September.

Prosecutors played an interrogation video for the jury when Frye was being interviewed, and placed him in the area where the woman was raped.

The woman had told investigators there were several distinctive tattoos on Frye’s neck and both forearms. A tattoo shop owner testified that Frye had come to his place of business inquiring about the cost of altering several tattoos on his neck.

Frye’s defense lawyer tried to convince the jury that while the pair were both together, he doesn’t know what happened. At another point, his attorney suggested that the couple had consensual sex.

But the jury didn’t buy the defense’s argument.

Frye will be sentenced next month.

Deputies believe that Frye is responsible for a string of other attacks and rapes in the area.
