After a robbery spree at various locations in Orlando and Casselberry, local police identified and arrested a suspect.
Last week, Orlando police officers responded to 4484 S. Semoran Blvd. in reference to a commercial robbery. The suspect entered the store, showed a weapon and demanded money from the cash register. The suspect then fled the store.
According to the Orlando Police Department, he was described as a white male with red hair and a red beard. OPD Violent Crimes Detectives began actively working this case and identified a possible suspect as 24-year-old Andrew David Hummel. They learned that Hummel was the suspect in a robbery that took place in Casselberry on July 24th.
On July 27th, two more commercial robberies occurred at 1627 S. Conway Road and 2516 S. Semoran Blvd. with the same suspect description. Violent Crimes Detectives responded to both scenes and observed surveillance video which showed the suspect, who they recognized as Andrew David Hummel, committing both robberies.
Members of our Fugitive Investigative Unit were able to locate Hummel a short time later and placed him under arrest. He was transported to Orlando Police Headquarters where he confessed to committing all three robberies in Orlando and one in Casselberry.
Hummel was then booked into the Orange County jail and charged with 3 counts of Robbery with a Deadly Weapon, 3 counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Grand Theft. Additionally, he is facing charges from Casselberry Police for the robbery he committed on July 24th.
