A suspect was recently arrested in an I-4 Central Florida road rage incident and local law enforcement said ICE was contacted.
The man was taken into custody along I-4 after a 911 caller reported he pointed a gun during a road rage incident. Deputies responded when a caller reported a passenger in a black Acura sedan stood up through the sunroof and pointed a handgun at his vehicle.
The two vehicles had been involved in a near-collision earlier while westbound on I-4 out of Daytona Beach, prompting honking and an exchange of gestures.
According to local law enforcement, the man did not have ID of any kind. He provided a possible name of Wilton Vargas Jr., but no date of birth or other identifying information. He indicated he entered the U.S. from the Dominican Republic by crossing the U.S.-Mexico border approximately six years ago.
Deputies contacted HSI and Border Patrol regarding the arrest and transported the defendant to the Volusia County Branch Jail.
The man faced charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, improper display of a weapon, possession of marijuana, and obstruction.
He was later identified as 25-year-old Winderson Emiliano Baez Vasquez, of Orlando. An ICE detainer had been placed on him at the jail according to local law enforcement.
