Suspect Arrested after Central Florida Shooting

A suspect was arrested after a recent Central Florida shooting.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a man following a shooting in Ruskin, south of Tampa. HCSO deputies recently responded to the 500 block of Sunlit Coral Street in Ruskin following reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, they located three juvenile victims suffering from gunshot wounds.

Through investigative means, detectives learned that the suspect, 36-year-old Christopher Lee Brown, confronted the juveniles regarding a dispute over a vehicle. During the altercation, Brown fired several shots at the victims, hitting them. A warrant was issued for Brown’s arrest, and he was taken into custody without incident.

All three juveniles were transported to Tampa General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

“This was a senseless and alarming act of violence that could have had an even more devastating outcome,” said Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister. “I’m grateful for the swift response of our deputies and the dedicated efforts of our detectives, who worked quickly to identify the suspect and ensure he was taken into custody without further incident.”

Brown was facing multiple felony charges, including: Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon (x3), Attempted Murder in the First Degree Premeditated Firearm – Discharge (x2), Aggravated Battery Great Bodily Harm or Deadly Weapon Firearm – Discharge (x3), Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Discharge Firearm in Public or on Residential Property, Burglary of an Occupied Dwelling (x2), Resisting Officer without Violence, and Criminal Mischief (More than $200, Less than $1,000).
